Step 1 of 5

Step 1 of 5: Project basics

Step 2 of 5: Project type

Pick the closest one. It ticks the trades, areas, lifecycle phases and gate checklists below; untick anything you do not want. Skipped: Blank.

Areas

No areas yet. Add them below, or let the P6 file fill them in step 4.

Boards it builds

  • One board for each trade you pick
  • The master board, PM board and CM roll-up

Step 3 of 5: Trades and contractors

Each ticked trade gets its own board. Type contractor names next to a trade, separated by commas (optional; add them later in Settings).

Often added

All other trades in the library

Civil and structural

Mechanical and piping

Electrical and controls

Finishing and support

Nothing ticked anywhere? The project starts with civil, structural, mechanical, piping and E&I.

Step 4 of 5: P6 schedule (optional)

Choose your P6 export: an .xer file, or a .csv with activity, name and trade columns. The areas, trades and contractors in it fill in the project so every activity lands on its board, and on Create the schedule loads as the baseline. Nothing is saved until then.

Step 5 of 5: Review and create

Press Check to see what will be created. Create project checks it too.

You become the PM of the new project. Next: its NDA, then Finish setting up.
