Change orders and back-charges ?

Change orders per craft add to or take from that trade's budget; savings and deducts show as value returned to the project. Back-charges recover the cost of a contractor's own errors, so the job never pays for the work and then pays again to fix it.

Raise a change order

If it is, raise a back-charge instead. The contractor carries the cost of fixing its own mistakes.

Back-charges for contractor errors

Steps: notice to the contractor with the basis and evidence, the contractor accepts or disputes on its scope page, the PM or CM agrees the amount, and the deduction is recorded against a pay application.
